A sanctuary ready for renewal
First Baptist Church Elkin has a long tradition of faith, music, and fellowship in Elkin, North Carolina. As worship styles evolved and congregational needs expanded, the church’s aging audio and visual systems began limiting the worship experience.
The church needed to solve three core challenges:
Uneven audio throughout the sanctuary
Some areas were too loud while others were too quiet, making sermons, prayers, announcements, and music difficult to hear clearly.
Outdated visual displays
Lyrics, scripture, sermon notes, and graphics were not always bright or clear enough for the congregation or online viewers to follow.
Limited video and streaming capabilities
The existing video setup did not support multiple camera angles or smooth switching between cameras, graphics, and computer content.
First Baptist Church Elkin needed more than new equipment. They needed a trusted AVL partner who could understand their worship goals, respect the character of their sanctuary, and design a system that would be reliable for staff and volunteers week after week. With more than five decades of design, build, and installation experience, the Platts Company brought the house of worship expertise needed to address the church’s audio, visual, and streaming challenges. From planning around the sanctuary’s architectural and acoustic needs to creating an easy-to-use system for ongoing ministry, the project was guided by one goal: helping technology support worship without becoming a distraction.

A complete AVL upgrade designed around worship
The Platts Company designed and installed a comprehensive system focused on audio clarity, visual engagement, live streaming quality, and future flexibility.
The project included:
A reimagined audio system
New loudspeakers, subwoofers, ceiling speakers, amplifiers, microphones, digital mixing, and signal processing helped create clearer, more consistent sound throughout the sanctuary.
Modernized video and display systems
New laser projectors, large borderless screens, and 4K display support made lyrics, scripture, sermon visuals, and presentations easier to see and follow.
Expanded camera and streaming capabilities
Multiple PTZ cameras, a camera controller, and a professional production switcher gave the church the ability to create a more engaging experience for online worshipers and special events.
Unified control for staff and volunteers
The upgraded system was designed to help the church manage audio, video, and streaming components with more confidence and consistency.
Future-ready infrastructure
Updated cabling, conduit management, and system architecture created a foundation for future AVL needs, including enhanced streaming, special events, or additional sanctuary upgrades.
